Akil Gibbons is an Emmy nominated award-winning film director and producer whose works have debuted at Sundance and distributed by HBO, BET, CNN, Vice, The Daily Show, Netflix, Paramount +, Time Studios and Roc Nation, through his own company CoINTEL Productions (CoINTELPRO).

At Vice Media, Gibbons produced and hosted films garnering millions of views and earned viral media impressions with his knack for telling stories that resonate covered topics including civil-rights, capitalism, mass incarceration, technology, and hip-hop culture.

Akil’s directing for commercial and brand campaigns include Google, MasterCard, AT&T, LinkedIn, Square, Udemy, De Beers, and more. His work continues to create impactful work for studios, networks, and brands as a director and producer.

Akil produced Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words for Amazon Prime and directed the pilot episode for HBO's Level Playing Field earning an Emmy nomination in 2022 for Outstanding Series. Gibbons work on the FBI counter-terrorism film (T)ERROR earned an Emmy and Sundance award in 2015 and later served as a cinematographer for the 2017 Netflix Original Get Me Roger Stone. His newest television work is a 5 episode series with ITVS/PBS directed by Darius Clark Monroe and called the “Dallas, 2019”.
